American Days

It has taken me a bit to get into this sneaker trend. Given my petite height, unless I am out for a run, sneakers make me feel like a muppet with cartoon size feet. Thus having tried a couple of styles I decided not to go with an athleisure type sneak but a more casual classic, The Chuck Taylor. I actually lived in black converse circa the late 90s. I was quite the alternative music lover (still love me some Third Eye Blind on any summer day) and (officially mortified to admit this) paired them with a studded pyramid belt as well as a matching bracelet (ughh lol). Funny how trends and personal style evolve ain't it? I never thought I would own another pair 20 years later, much less a white one.

The easiest way to do this trend is with crisp skinny jeans and a basic white plain tee. Add an en trend bomber jacket for a summer night out layered look. For a more fashion forward ensemble, accessorize a skirt or dress with sneakers. The key to not making this look frumpy is to pick the right length size and silhouette when picking a skirt or dress for your body type. For petite ladies, stick with fitted and shorter styles like body cons and minis. For taller gals, midi skirts and maxi dresses are fair game. Add, wardrobe staple, a denim jacket for a summer weekend style. I wore my iconic American sneaker look for a little 4th Of July fun in Sacramento. A little wine tasting followed by an evening of fireworks, it was a perfect American summer day in the state capitol.
