Hairstyle: Bouffant

Continuing with summer dreaming I could not help but play with beach babe volume for my new hairstyle feature. Therefore taking inspiration in the sultry icon Brigitte Bardot, Bigsby House hair artist Lisa Smith created a modern messy meets vintage style Bouffant worthy of summer days to come.

Big hair can sometimes be a challenge for a thick mane such as mine, but whether your hair is thin or thick this chic-do is all about first setting your tresses for easy yet firm hold. Starting with dry hair, separate your mane into 2 inch pieces. Take a piece and comb in a texture creating mousse and then heat set it with the blow-dryer, ending with a light coat of hairspray for a double set. Next bobby pin the set section, when still hot, by curling it by hand and securing it close to the scalp. Work through and repeat this process piece by piece. When all the set pieces have cooled take all the pins out and shake it out and then brush out. Lastly, take the top half of the hair (use as much and as little to your discretion) and then tease the crown of the hair chosen by using shape paste and a comb. Pin to hold. The secret to my hairdo is all about the texture. Adding texture to this style creates a more lived in look for a modern take on the picture perfect 60's bouffant.
