Mixology 101: State Of Grace

April showers bring May flowers. Spring is one of my favorite seasons for it is prime time for "ladies who brunch" happy hours. Thus looking for an alternative to the classic mimosa, I was so excited to make a perfect brunch time drink, the "State Of Grace", with local downtown San Jose craft cocktail bar 55 South. Pink and pretty, this drink is perfect for those upcoming champagne celebrations like Easter and Mother's Day.

55 South's "State Of Grace" is a unique balance of citrus layers and raspberry sweetness. It  has a fun fizz with the taste of a spritzer, yet without loosing its punch.  Some tips from the head mixologist and co-owner Eric, when muddling raspberries make sure to not crush the seeds. Raspberry seeds have a bitter taste when crushed and it will make your drink taste sour. Also, this drink is best poured double strained as to catch all the seeds. A tip from me, shake shake and shake. Shaking this drink is essential to create that smooth finish and balanced taste. Happy Brunching Y'all!
