Mixology 101: Pomegranate Sparkler



I am so excited to kick off my Mixology 101 series and dabble in the art of craft cocktailing with you! 

First up is a ruby red dazzler, the Pomegranate Sparkler, a drink I stirred up with Santana Row brunch spot Village California Bistro. This cocktail is the perfect touch to a romantic Valentine's day dinner or a fabulous "galantine" party. It has a subtly sweet taste with a splash of celebration fizz. A great tip I took away from my lesson with Village California Bistro was, you cannot beat natural flavor, which is a signature practice at their restaurant. Thus consider using fresh fruit and investing in natural flavor products like Perfect Puree (buy here). I also was delighted to be introduced to Secco Italian Bubbles Rose (buy here). Part of the Charles Smith family I was smitten to realize they also make my favorite riesling, Kung Fu Girl. 



Ingredients:

Three Olives Pomegranate Vodka
St Germain Liqueur
Pomegranate Puree
Secco Italian Bubbles Rose (Sparkling Red Wine)
One Fresh Lemon
Sugar

Steps:

1. Pour into shaker 1 ounce of pomegranate vodka
2. Add 1/2 ounce of St. Germain liqueur
2. Add 1/2 ounce of pomegranates puree
3. Press 1/8 of a fresh lemon into the mix
4. Shake
5. Run a lemon wedge around rim of glass and rim with sugar.
6. Strain drink mix into glass.
7. Top off with sparkling red wine
8. Garnish with a lemon wheel
