I must to tell you, I am having a love affair with this dress. I am so obsessed with its tiny sparkly buttons and forest green tulle slip. It is a rare moment when you try on a piece of clothing and it feels like it was made just for you. Well from the moment I saw this dress to the moment I twirled in it, our fate was definitely entwined. Such a unique piece, I was fortunate enough to get to know a little more about its history from my blogging gal pal Amanda (read her blog here), who discovered the gem when liquidating an estate of a medical genius named Zoila.
A Colombian immigrant, who never married and never had children, Zolia went to John Hopkins and ended her career at the Stanford Research Institute. When she was not, what I would imagine was making medical breakthroughs, she was quiet the glamorous jet-setter as well. Apparently though, her preferred mode of travel transport was boats where I can envision her in her adorable ruffled bathing suit and her chic calico framed sunglasses, which Amanda showed me as well. Wardrobe soul mates? I think yes!
