Was so happy to see so many of your pretty, and handsome, faces at last week's West Elm Palo Alto holiday party. Had so much fun hosting the event with Amanda from at Kuzak's Closet, sharing our holiday tips and favorite products (see Amanda's pictures and DIYs on her blog here).
One of the most important things I took away from Amanda's tips was PLAN, PLAN and PLAN. Everything from a shopping schedule to cooking schedule is essential for keeping a piece of mind. Thus an easy and fun thing to go to the store for ahead time is stylish paper goods. One of my tips, when styling your holidays, is let your plates, drinkware and cutlery be your neutrals that can transition through the holidays and accessorize with paper goods. Cloth napkins and place mats can be so frustrating to use much less watch a guest stain them with wine or lipstick. They can also get boring, making it hard to re-vamp your holiday style year to year. Funky print napkins and whimsical straws are not only a great way to play with trend wise, but disposable for an easy peasy clean up. I mean can it get any better than moose print napkins? Another tip of mine is, simple holiday DIYs can really become statement pieces to accent with. Two projects I dabbled in for this coming season were a moss letter table centerpiece, which you can learn how to make on my blog (see tutorial here) and forest animal cocktail stirrers, which I will be showing you how to make as well so stay tuned. If your are loving the rustic meets luxury theme, like me lately, both are perfect additions for a glamping look (see my glamping outfit here). My last tip is, style up your food with some themed baked goodies. Don't try to make over the top desserts that can
explode flop on you last
minute. Trust me. I have been there. Don't get me wrong, holiday pies are a must and that is an easy option, but add some fresh yummy bites with handcrafted design from your local bakery as well. Experts at miniature goodness my go to bakery is SusieCakes for they always have holiday themed options ready to pre-order for speedy pick up (find your nearest SusieCakes bakery on their site here).
Now who's ready to party?
