Birthday Blues

As you might have gathered, big skirts are my new obsession. Hesitant that they would overwhelm my petite size, I recently threw caution to the wind and bought a handful when visiting Arizona earlier this month (see here). Snatching this particular vintage Victor Costa piece for only $1, I was floored by its pastel hues and silk taffeta fabric, when I saw it on a thrift store sale rack. Saving it, rightfully so, for my birthday dinner, I paired it with a handful of shades of blue, my favorite piece being my chambray polka dot button-up. I must note that this ensemble is quiet a nod to my mom's style and thus I had to finish it with my mom's hand-me-down, faux, pearl clutch. So much for birthday blues!

Peplum Party

Peplum Party? Yes Please! I recently made it out to the city, for one of my birthday rendezvous, leaving a purple and pink peplum trail behind. More of an intimate occasion with the boy, I enjoyed an evening without any rigid plans, simply soaking in the SF sights. I fell particularly in love with the 100 year-old hotel we spent the night at, The Hotel California, which is located in the heart of Old San Francisco. I don't know about you but I love finding destinations with so much history. It adds just that bit more of "sparkle" to a memory and this birthday was just one of those memories to keep.

A little note on this fabulous peplum number. A Los Gatos American Cancer Society local thrift store find, with a little tweak here and there, by my tailor, I just adore its 80's party flavor. Going big, rather than going home, I pulled from the shades of pink and purple, within the design, and paired it with some modern pieces to accent its full impact. I must say its one of my favorite outfits to date!

Hints Of Oxblood

Between my birthday and the holiday, I have been nothing less then smitten with my overdose of family time. Gabbing over great meals, dancing the night away, and reminiscing over coffee, are just a few of my favorite things this official start of the holiday season has indulged me with. Moreover, a big believer of dressing to the nines, when marking special occasions, this is the first of a series of celebration outfits I just must share with you all. I hope your festive kickoff was just as sweet!

With the cold front officially arriving to the San Francisco Bay Area, I have been living in sweaters to ease the brisk everyday breeze. Thus as Thanksgiving is around the corner, I have had my eye on the graphic knit trend to help me bring a little bit of statement sweater fun to my holiday dinner plans. Here are few pieces, I love, that inspire some childlike style for the chill weather.

Southwest Sunset

If there is one thing that I love just as much as color it's a print and inspired by some saddles and stripes, I got in the southwestern spirit with the pup in tow. Called out to Arizona for a family wedding, it was refreshing to escape for a weekend and enjoy some laughs with loved ones. I particularly found myself smiling when the boy and I got some alone time and he walked me to a thrift store, which was around the corner from our hotel. It's moments like these where we just get to talk and talk and talk. We talk openly about our worries and about our dreams. Just me. Just him. Into the southwest sunset. With the race rush over literally, but not mentally, we simply took a second to lean on each other and know that despite what life may throw at him or me, walking side by side, is where we were meant to be.

Boots and Babydolls

Boots are one of my November necessities and when I spotted these Tory Burch beauties, early on in the summer for a steal, it was love at first sight. Waiting months for an excuse to wear them, as soon as the wind picked up, cooling the endless California summer, I knew the boots had to come out, even if just for an evening romp.

On another note, yes, those are glasses. You might be surprised to know that I wear glasses pretty much all the time. My only exceptions are weekend nights out, special occasions and pictures. Feeling in the mood to mix it up a bit, I decided be photographed with them, for the first time, for this post and well I might have to just bust them out for rotation, on the blog, more often. Fancy that!
