Tropical Edge

Its been high heat here in Cali, making it perfect weather for some tropical summer nights full of amazing adventures with fun friends. Despite the heavy travels, unlike past race seasons, the in between times have been filled with race family reunions, including playing host in my own home. What can I tell you about my race family? Saying they are my support system, would be an understatement. My life line, is more like it. It takes a unique kind of person to deal with the madness that can take place on and off the track and when you find yourself leaning on one another, what starts as a moment of comfort becomes a lifetime of friendships. This year has been quiet the adventure and this coming weekend I will feel like quiet the mother hen seeing old family and new family work as one. Thus you must excuse me as I get a bit sentimental,  its been a long journey for the boy, and I am sincerely grateful for the people who I have learned to love, as my own, along the way. XOXO.

Had quiet the weekend in Ohio recently, despite some major hiccups with the race team. So proud of the boys for a third place finish and I am also quite excited to spend the next race weekend at home.

In the land of my antiquing adventures (see previous adventures here and here), I am happy to share with you that I scored some great stuff from dinnerware to decor. My favorite found treasure is a vintage, Mansfield Antique Fair poster, I purchased for only $4. I cannot wait to frame it as some wall art. By the way... I was also finally able to eat at Cracker Barrel. YAY me! LOL. Any who, while we are on the subject of food, I happened to walk into the most adorable ice cream shop, Jeni's, and practically died when I had their HANDMADE sweets. Lured by the line making its way around the corner, let me tell you, it was so delish that I might have to mail myself some! (Ya. You heard me right. You can order it online. Start googling now!) For more pictures, follow my shopping travels via Instagram: mimismuneca

Packing For: Jet-Setting Journeys

My summer track travel adventures have lead me to O to the Hi O this weekend and I am excited to explore what is know as the birth place of aviation. When I first started to research Ohio, I found myself quiet out of sorts, with what to pack. Yet kinda liking the idea of fleeting style I dug out a bunch of scarfs, very a la Amelia Earhart. Also, my research would have not been complete if I had not looked up some great second-hand hot spots that I am already mapping visits around the boys schedule at the track....Oh you know me! XOXO

Red, White and Blue

The 4th is very dear and near to my heart for its the day the boy and I will always remember as the beginning to our story. 20 and wide-eyed, the series of run-ins that lead to our coincidental beach rendezvous, 7 years ago, was nothing short of  boy-girl meet cute. Our social life surrounded by couples, our mutual acquaintances were determined to fit us into their mold, yet somehow never with each other. It was only by chance we kept on bumping into one another, he with his naive boyish confidence, me with my pretended girlish indifference. Hence it is only now that he openly admits that when I did not remember his name, after the third run-in, he only falsely professed he did not know mine either. In many ways we have grown-up with each other, although back than we thought we had life all figured out. At the risk of sounding too cliche, if we only knew back then what we know now. The ups the downs, the tears the laughs, all pieces of a puzzle still not yet complete, but worth the wait to see the whole picture.

As for the ensemble, you may be asking, you might be surprised to know that I am mostly a t-shirt and jean wearing kinda gal during the work week, keeping a low profile at my day job. This feeling a little casual on this holiday, I threw on my favorite pair of jeans, LPD's of course, and dressed them up with some polka dots and peplum. Attempting some more red in my life, I finished the look with some recent pre-loved store finds, a wool blazer and some oh so cute candy cane pumps. I've never been to crazy about the color red but I decided its time to give it a chance. XOXO.

4th Of July Inspiration

Family Beach Picnic

Fireworks Show Date

4th of July is by far my favorite Holiday of the year! Smack in the middle of summer and of course the fireworks, it is a perfect day to have some in theme fun with a patriotic ensemble. Not a big fan of red, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and include a splash of fire engine Va Va Va Voom in my red, white and blue look today and of course I cannot wait to share! Happy 4th lovelies!

Summer Sparkle

The weather has been to die for here in California, helping my days consist of morning trail runs and afternoon fetch dates with the pup at the park. Summer days are here and I love simply just being outdoors, whether its having a cafe with a girl friend or trolling the neighborhood for yard sales. I recently scoured an estate sale and found a gem of a cocktail ring, with a simple but large rhinestone solitaire. Paired with another vintage necklace find, it created just the right amount of summer sparkle I was looking for.
