Anchors Away

Last weekend's get away near the beach, in Santa Barbara, gave my the excuse to go nautical chic, once more during my travels, and boy did I pull out the the sailing stops. Fully embracing the color of the summer, I pieced a mono-chromatic coral orange ensemble that included a pair of anchor print pants, which are, hands down, my favorite trousers I have purchased for the summer.

While we are on the topic of summer, 4th of July is around the corner and for moi that means anniversary celebrations with the boy. Not sure what the plans are yet, but I already have a patriotic top I cannot wait to sport and well Mr.Oliver has the cutest hoodie he might just have to wear out for the night time fireworks show. I love love love fireworks!

Tie-Dyed or Dip-Dyed, denim with a splash of bleach is a fun spin on the classic jean look for this summer season. I spotted this statement denim piece on a couple of my favorite blogger gals (see here and here) and have yet to dabble in the trend myself. Maybe a dip-dyed chambray over a maxi? How would you style this piece? Happy first day of summer!

Summer Sunshine

Spent my weekend in the summer sunshine, road-tripping it to the so cal region. I am always on the fence about sporting shorts, but I thought I would take a chance and bring out the gambs to play. Good thing, for it was a weekend full of warm weather, which made it perfect for exploring on our way to and from the beach. The boy and I pulled over at a small town, a historic mission and even found some random thrift stores here and there. Suprisingly, although having been a bit torn about spending another weekend out of town, I had some much needed relaxing road-trip time, sans bulky suitcases and restless plane rides. I also have to admit, I kinda played my old lady card as well, tucking myself in bed by around 10:00 pm every night.

Neon Nautical

Can't get enough... Gotta have more... Two Words: Nautical and Neon. By far my favorite look inspired by my travels, this ensemble hit the mark when making my way to Elkhart Lake two weekends ago. (See inspiration board here) The small boating town that is somewhere between classic and spunky, I found myself echoing the sentiment via my ode to nautical style with a neon twist. While in town I was able to have an amazing meal and of course, I also got the chance to unwind a bit and dance the night away. But with that said dearies, let me tell you its time to buckle down and cleanse this body, mind and soul a bit. (Fact: I gained 6 pounds over the last 6 months) If your a tiny person like me, a la 5 feet, you know how those few lbs can throw a well-fitted wardrobe for a loop. SIGH. No more fast food. No more couch surfing it up. A note to all those early 20 gals, Take Heed! It is much harder to get back on the running grid at 27 than at 20. It comes off much slower and you must work much harder. Double SIGH. The woes that come with age... who knew?

I'm Back! Can we say Deja Vu? I feel like it was only yesterday I was coming back from Atlanta (see here) saying the same thing! (Fact: For the first half of June I have yet to be at home for one weekend... and as fate will have it, looks like this won't be that weekend either.) In my crazy summer travel extravaganza, I must say, although quiet longing to just stand still for a second, I cannot complain about the random adventures had and the lovely new friends made. (Of course, I also must say sorry for the lack of blog updates, particularly on the outfit front but I promise you I have some awesome ensembles to come.) One of the most memorable places I trotted upon in my travels was the small town of Plymouth, Wisconsin. Going into my Midwest experience, I had originally had my eye on Elkhart Lake, which I also fell in love with, but I found myself wandering into Plymouth for my morning coffee and ended up exploring this picture perfect place as well. Full of small town locals and antique shops, I brought home a handful of pottery pieces for decor and entertaining. Well it's off to Santa Barbara for me folks.... Happy dance for sea breeze and fish and chips!
