Collateral Doggage December Outtakes

Collateral Doggage- n. Unintentional or accidental style comma to a dog that would not be a lawful fashionista target, in the circumstances ruling at the time. The phrase is prevalently used as an euphemism for a dog of a fashion action.

Mr. Oliver was quite the "Holiday Ham", as my brother nicknamed him, this Christmas season. Getting handsomely dapper in his knit sweater and bow-tie, he was head over heels when we gave him his faux "Hickory Farms" squeaky toy set. Cheese ball, Dijon mustard, crunchy cashews and all, he cannot get enough play time with them. Joining him this holiday season was his dog cousin Mr. Buddy. Do not be fooled by the pictures below!  A grumpy age of 7, he ate half of my Apple Walnut cake!

NYE Style Inspiration

Family Gathering

Dinner Date

Dance Party

New Year's Eve is here! It's the last hurrah of 2011! Still in search of that NYE worthy get-up myself, I couldn't help put together some outfit inspirations to get in the mood. Forget the sequined mini dress, sparkle sparingly. Add a pop of color, some studded detail, or snake skin texture for some chic eclectic fun!

Pink Polka Dots

I've been kind of smitten on mixing nude browns with sherbet hues, a la Spring 2012, recently. Way too excited for the neon and pastel trend that will come with the change of weather, I had to dabble in some of this spring style asap this California, aka t-shirt weather even in December, winter vacation.

Although quite proud of the H&M jumper I nabbed, on sale, this holiday season, tortoise shell colored buttons and all, I have to say it is inevitably trumped by the $5 dollar, vintage, silk, pink polka dot shirt I came up on, when browsing a recent estate sale. Bringing the killer combo together, I added a simple, bow belt in the same bubble-gum shade.

Pecan Bites

Happy Christmas Eve Folks!!!! Having a grand time surrounded by family and food tonight. Just wanted to take a minute and share with you the Mini Pecan Bites, I cooked up, as my contribution to my family's Christmas Eve Feast. I attempted to bake some on Thanksgiving, for the first time, without much success. Yet after tweaking a couple of things, such as acquiring mini tart molds, I happily executed some this morning.

New Print. Nice Pup.

If there was anything, I wished, I would  incorporate more into my wardrobe it would have to be prints. I have at times been obsessed with basic prints, such as dots and stripes, but funky and fun patterns is something I many of times have turned away from. Yet not so long ago, while on my local, Black Friday, shopping spree, I found this adorable rope print dress at The Usuals, which is located in downtown San Jose. With peach-orange as its backdrop, the touches of grey and green within the pattern lended itself to perfectly paring it with some accessories that accentuated those hints of color. I also adored the way the dress fit, falling so effortlessly. As for the pup, well I would be lying if I said I wasn't afraid he might just start up-staging me on these stylish photo adventures. Hence, the cocking of his head to the left, when posing solo, next to my shoes and bag. Love him.

Sustainable Wedding Style

Had a lovely time dabbling, as a prop stylist, for a wedding shoot, I was invited to work on, last month. Keeping it local, by using all Bay Area vendors, I was able to put together a handful of vintage inspired vignettes, full of one-of-a-kind pieces that support sustainable wedding style. Focusing on eco-friendly products, ACME Party Box Company, located in Palo Alto, provide me with a wide selection of re-usable and or recyclable items, ideal for a charmingly eclectic sweetheart table and/or a cocktail/dessert bar. Seasonal Woodcrafts, out of Morgan Hill, was another going green vendor who supplied me with quality, re-worked, antique furniture perfect for adding shabby chic character to any wedding reception. Here are some behind the scenes snap shots, I captured, of some of my favorite details of the day, like Icing on the Cake's rosebud creations perfect for our cupcake candelabra and Weck Carafe inspired cocktail hour.

Pinstripe Blazer Meets Glitter Pumps

Paid a visit to SF this week, in seek of Photobooth’s Holiday Big Shot Party with Rue Magazine and Mira Mira. An intimate affair, the who’s who of San Fran fashion bloggers came out, dressed in their best holiday garb, to sip on some sweet libations and nibble on adorable bite-size creations. Fashionista's ensembles with touches of sparkle are what had me smitten and capturing each outfit was Photobooth's Polaroid moments. Also Mira Mira showcased a handful of sequined pieces, perfect for New Years apparel. I was particularly captivated by their  lingerie type, sequined bra-top they draped with a vermilion, low-cut neckline maxi. For my personal ode to holiday style, I reserved the hint of twinkle for an accessory piece. I didn't want to take too much attention away from my MK blazer, I had been dying to wear, so I paired it with my gold glitter pumps for a more subtle sparkle. Adding a splash of pattern, I completed my outfit with a zigzag clutch, filled with colorful pop. An amazing time with my fab fashion friend, Karla Randolph aka The Card Lady, who by the way looked fab in her fur coat, I look forward to more SF Fun come New Years!

Orange Obsessions

As if buying burnt Apricot tights was not enough of a fix, I cannot stop aquiring orange hued items as of late. Given it was named by Pantone the must-have color for Spring 2012, I see no harm in trying out the shade a little early, especially collecting fashion pieces sure to complete many outfits come the warm weather. Here are a handful of my favorite orange additions, making themselves at home in my style and decor wardrobe.

Sea of Green

Jumped aboard the Christmas tree wagon this weekend, seeking the perfect festive fir. My search took me up the Santa Cruz Mountains, hoping to chop one down. Yet, the boy and I have limited experience in such ambitious matters, [Enter "How NOT to almost set your Home Depot Charlie Brown X-Mas Tree Trunk on Fire with a Power Tool" Here] thus the loafers we are we ended up simply soaking up the views as we drove around the trees and stopping in a old school house estate to smell the crisp goodness we are lucky to call home. Will have to tell you my classic Christmas tree story later this week when we get our tree settled in. Its quiet a HOOT. Stay Tuned.

Gift Guide:

Tin Treasures

It was my second time making the journey to the Alamdea Point Antique Faire this past Sunday. Interestingly enough, a first-timer, the boy decided to make the trip with me as well. But true to a first timer's nature, he just couldn't pull the trigger and nab a steal. Mind you we had been watching American Pickers marathons in mental preparation for the what can be, for most, an overwhelming feat.  Yet despite the overdose of antique hunting motivation, the rows and rows of pre-loved quirky pieces stunned the boy to stillness. Not to toot my own horn, myself on the other hand, happily can home with a few tin treasures, suitably fabulous for dwelling design. My most innovative find was a handful of vintage tin lids. Bursting with vivid shades, I decided to hang them on a wall, finding inspiration in a dish collage. A dollar each, these colorful pieces are a simple solution to my take on unique wall art. I also fell in love with a classic Morton Salt advertisement sign, with a working thermometer for $25 dollars and a $5 dollar tiny old-school race car toy.

Leather and Lace

Contrary to the suprisingly funky physical tribulations,  if there is one thing I have always appreciated about growing older, it has been gathering with long-time companions, over a nice meal, and reminiscing about careless times, memories that can only come with age. I set-out on one of these dinner dates  this weekend, weary of the possible winter rain. Yet surrounded by Latin lingo laughs and some scrumptious designer pizza, the weather was nothing to fuss about. As for the ensemble, formal meets edgy, I combined some leather and lace for my feast rendezvous. On an orange love affair, I matched the lacy apricot toned top with some rust hued tights.
