Pink Meets Leather

Had a girl date at Hotel Valancia's Rose On The Row this past Wednesday. Soaking in the view from the roof top lounge Cielo, I enjoyed great conversation over some lovely libations. It was also a great excuess to wear a faux leather mini find I have been dying to rock for a couple of weeks now. I found inspiration in some electric pink pumps, very rocker yet still very girly, I paired it with a funky flower blouse that did the same.

Bohemian Beat

Had the pleasure of styling Miss Candice Lorraine Wurster last week for a very fun photo shoot. Playing up her sultry looks, the very boho chic 70's shilouettes and prints did just the thing. My favortie pieces were an airy pink cotton dress and a thick faux-suade maroon belt that had a huge chunky gold buckle with stone accents. Although we worked through the indian summer heat, I had a fabulous time!

Trinkets and Treasures

Head into the Santa Cruz Hills recently in search of a goat farm and found the most darling antique faire. Almost like attending a grand dinner party, all the vendors had fabulous set-ups full of trinkets and treasures. Without a specific piece in mind and slightly addicted to ironstone and stoneware pieces as of late, I went home with small but sweet round ironstone bowl that has two tiny shell like handles. Ready to fill it, I will have to figure out if I will use it for kitchen decor or living room decor.

Spots and Stripes

I strolled down the street last Friday to Simply Smashing! in downtown Campbell for its Shh (opping) collaboration with It's A Girl Thing. Creating a heavenly collage of designer and vintage items, both locally loved boutiques partnered up to host a unique shopping experience, featuring many to-die-for pieces. A sucker for big old shinny things, I was mesmerized by a few vintage baubles myself. Popping with color and sparkle, I am already saving my pennies. These must come home with me very soon!

Birthday Firsts

My pup, Oliver, turned one this past Monday and searching for a way, to mark the occasion, I found myself hunting for a bow tie. I had once seen some in a fab dog boutique, in Carmel, yet when I searched locally, I could only find tuxedo like ties. Thus my endless hunt sent me to Touleh, in Palo Alto, that did have a handful, but when I was shown an adorable birthday hat, I knew it was just thing to mark the occasion! Nevertheless, with a huge birthday dog cake and a tiny hat, we said Happy Birthday to the mutt with the most adorably huge ears ever!

Runway Ready

I attended the Santana Row Fall Fashion recently and spotted some great pieces right on trend with the season. Donald J. Pilner rocked a handful of rugged yet sassy boots, in a variety of colors, textures and materials. I particularly drooled when the emerald green knee-high boot, Rune, walked the runway. Part of the Lisa collection, the sky high heel and the snake-toe cap detail is to die for. I also intrigued by the shirt pant pairings by Free People. Not a big fan of long-cut gaucho pants, I was persuaded to consider them when I saw them complimented by layered knit and lace tops.

Wedded Bliss

One of my High School besties tied the knot early this month and true to her very classic yet fun taste she did it in shabby chic backyard wedding style. Refreshments in an antique tub, an eclectic candy bar, bunches of wildflowers in old jars were all sweet touches I must use in the future. Without a doubt it was all those small, inexpensive, personal details that stood out the most for me because they created an effortless charm unique to the special day. Congrats Sweet Pea!

Colorful Connections

I ventured into downtown this past weekend in search of some inspiration and found myself surrounded by colorful ideas. As I strolled by the soon to open San Pedro Square Market, I stumbled upon a beautiful artistic endeavor that is an effort, by the city, to stop graffiti from filling empty spaces. Artist Lorna Sulgit's wall mural is a collage of old canning labels of once locally canned products. The familiar city names along with the bold hues create an almost nostalgic feeling for what San Jose was and a longing for what the city, full of art mavens from music to design, can be. Finishing the lazy day with a coffee, I wandered over to the Willow Glen area where I stopped by a little cafe/bakery I had always wanted to check out and I was not disappointed. Full of bright tones, the small Flower Flour patisserie has cozy nooks, inside and out, where one can enjoy that cup of joe or a refreshing lemonade after a long work week.
