Ode To Paris

Dressed in my Parisian red and white stripes I made my way up to SF last night and attended, Sugar and Spice, an SF Chefs 2011 event at the Westin St. Francis on the 32nd floor. Not quiet sure what to expect I was delighted when I was surrounded by delicious pastries of all kinds. A small nibble here a big nibble there, my mouth exploded with all sorts of textures and flavors. Aside from confectionary explorations, I would consider myself a conservative eater, not taking many culinary risks at home or at restaurants. Yet, amongst the darling desserts, I was presented with a few food masterpieces I had to try. Stepping out of my comfort zone, I found myself dabbling in duck. One of my favorite discoveries at the fabulous food party was 1300 On Fillmore, a restaurant revolutionizing the concept of southern comfort food. I sampled some braised boneless beef short ribs on top of some creamy grits paired with a mini pecan pie. I died.
